Strathendrick Rotary Classic Car Tour
Dear Enthusiasts,
After weeks of wintery weather, it is good to consider the 2010 Strathendrick Rotary Classic Car Tour is now open for entries - it's fast forward - for classics to be dusted off, tuned up, and road tested for a meeting of like-minded enthusiasts having a great day out and supporting two very worthwhile charities.
Coinciding with "Drive It Day" you are invited to sample the pleasures of motoring on quiet unspoilt roads and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow classic car owners. This year's route is new - starting from The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne, By Killearn we take a leisurely drive along Loch Lomondside, onwards through Glen Falloch and Glen Dochart - where we commence a wonderful 30 mile journey on stunning single track roads, stopping midway for refreshments at the award winning Ardeonaig Hotel and Restaurant on the southern shores of Loch Tay. We then have the challenge of the ascent up to the remote Glen Quaich, through the Sma' Glen following scenic quiet roads to Culcreuch Castle, Fintry for High Tea and Prize Giving.

Welcome to the Strathendrick Rotary Classic Car Tour, this year jointly sponsored by The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne, by Killearn, G63 9LA www.thebeechtreeinn.co.uk a special family restaurant which combines a country setting with great food, and the NFU Mutual www.nfumutual.co.uk/stirling. who provide insurance services for cars, home and businesses, in addition to life, pensions and investments. The valuable and generous sponsorship will cover the majority of our costs and funding of the Rally Plates, Maps and Souvenir Awards for each entrant.
Congratulations to all who took part in last year’s Tour which enabled Strathendrick Rotary to donate £2750 to both CLIC Sargent and Leonard Cheshire Disability School4All.
To take part in the 2010 Tour there is no entrance fee, however competitiors are expected to raise a minimum amount of £25 per car (ask your friends and family/business colleagues to sponsor your car or you may prefer to make a personal donation) which is to be donated to the Rotary Club of Strathendrick Charity Fund (Scottish Charity Account No SCO16137) for distribution to the following two principal charities and also other local and national deserving causes which the Fund supports.
In addition donations can be increased in value by 28% if you are a tax payer and tick the Gift Aid Box when completing the Sponsorship Form. Note you must include your home postcode as a minimum for this to be effective.

The Tour coincides with “Drive It Day” www.fbhvc.co.uk – as many of you will know this is the day for Classic Car owners to take their special cars out for the day to show the nation the popularity and importance of the Classic Car movement – this is the day for you.
The approx 125 mile route on glorious roads through Stirlingshire, Perthshire and the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park this year starting from The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne, by Killearn G63 9LA and finishing back at Culcreuch Castle, Fintry G63 0LW www.culcreuch-castle-hotel.com for High Tea and Award Ceremony. A Tulip Plan Route Book together with a map to ensure no one gets lost will be provided. Entrants will have the choice of making their own way, individually or driving in small groups. The event has been organised essentially for driving enjoyment on quieter traffic free roads. It is estimated that those parts of the route on A, B, and better minor roads will be easily covered at an average of 30mph with the more interesting single track roads at a lower average.
Starting from The Beech Tree Inn www.thebeechtreeinn.co.uk - Tea /coffee/bacon rolls will be available from 8.30 to 10am with the first car leaving at 10am and at 1 minute intervals thereafter. There will be the opportunity to meet up with friends at lunch (soup + sliced baguette) to be taken at the Award Winning Ardeonaig Hotel & Restaurant www.ardeonaighotel.co.uk Marshalls will be on hand to assist with car parking. SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS
1. Announcement
The Strathendrick Rotary Classic Car Tour will be held on Sunday 25th April, 2010 and is organised by the Rotary Club of Strathendrick The event will start at The Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne, By Killearn G63 9LA and finish at Culcreuch Castle Fintry, Stirlingshire G63 0LW. A Map of the Start and Finish venues will be issued with the final instructions.
2. Car Eligibility
All Vintage, Historic and Classic Cars, including Modern Sports Cars are welcome.
Entries are limited to a maximum of 60 cars.
3. Entries
The Entry List opens on publication of these Regulations and Entry Form.
The Entry List closes on 10th April 2010 or when a maximum of 60 entries are received.
There will be NO ENTRY FEE for what is promised to be a day of fun and fellowship amongst like-minded classic car enthusiasts, however all entrants are expected to raise SPONSORSHIP – MINIMUM £25 per car with funds to go to the Rotary International supported charities. Scottish Charity A/c No SCO16137.
Please seek donations from friends, family, business associates to assist in raising funds for these worthy causes by completing the separate sponsorship form not forgetting to tick the Gift Aid Box if applicable. The sponsorship form together with the monies collected can be handed in on the day or sent not later than 7 days after the event to the organising committee:

5. Route Navigation and Driving Behaviour
The route will be on public A and B class and unclassified roads. The route will be on sealed surfaces. The route will be defined by Tulip diagrams. A Road Book and Map will be provided. A sample will be sent out with the final instructions.
Participants must at all times comply with the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts and drive in a responsible and considerate manner. Please remember other road users, cyclists, walkers and livestock.
6. Qualification/Licences
There is no element of competition, so no special qualifications are needed. A full UK driving licence is required
7. Insurance
Insurance is the sole responsibility of the driver. Normally no special insurance is required for a Classic Car Tour, however you are advised to check with your Insurance provider whether you will be covered for this type of event. A minimum of Third Party Insurance for all persons who will drive participating vehicles must be applicable for the duration of the event.
8. Scrutineering
The car must have a valid Road Fund Licence, MOT Certificate (if applicable and Certificate of Insurance - these should be available for inspection. The Driver will be required to sign a declaration confirming the car is insured and both Driver and Passengers are required to sign a Declaration indemnifying the Organisers from liability, on the Signing On Sheet at the start of the Tour.
9. Controls
Route Check Code Boards may be in place to establish that the correct route has been followed.
10. Data Protection Act
Prospective entrants and participants are advised that information supplied on the entry form will be held on a computer and used for the administration of the event.
11. Final Instructions
Will be sent out after the 15th April which will include a Map of the start and finish venues, the Entry List confirming your Start time and a sample of the Tulip diagrams. The Rally plates, Road Book and Map will be available at the Start which opens at 8.30am.
