A TOUCH OF CLASS-ICMay 18 2007
STIRLING and District Classic Car Club will host its third classic car show this Sunday in the Strathallan Games Park, Bridge of Allan.
The event is set to be bigger and better with invites out to 25 classic car clubs while a number of private owners have expressed an interest in displaying their vehicles.
As previously the rally is a charity fund raiser, with CHAS being the main beneficiary. Gates will open to the public at 11 am and will remain open until 4 pm.
Entrants include classic and vintage cars, commercial and military vehicles, fire appliances and stationary engines. In addition there will be trade stands providing the opportunity for those attending to find that elusive car part.
Catering stalls will ensure that all appetites are satisfied. There will be a ceilidh band in attendance, a reaction tester and various other attractions including a tombola which, it is hoped, will provide something of interest for all family members.

Trophies will be awarded for the best car in show and for the best club stand.
Entry price is £3 adult, with children under 16 going free.
Recently, members were joined on a special “Drive It” day by members of the Oban club, the Mustang club and the Toyota club which meant up to 30 cars in a convoy at some parts.
The aim of the “Drive It” day was to show members of the public the interest in classic and vintage vehicles and the importance of the country’s motoring heritage.
This followed a directive by the EU relating to vehicle emissions.
The substance of the directive is that vehicles aged over 30 years will be classified as “old”. Most of them would fail the emissions legislation unless they were made exempt. This would lead to them being scrapped.
“Drive It” days were arranged around the country to draw attention to the situation.
A Stirling and District Classic Car Club spokesperson said: “Whilst our chosen route did not include large centres of population, our presence was noted by many drivers and pedestrians en route.
“We also encountered at least three other convoys of classic vehicles during the course of our outing.”
