Monte 2013 update
Douglas Anderson
The Rallye Monte Carlo Historique organising committee are working hard on the arrangements for the 2013 Start on 26 January and things are progressing well. There will be a special ‘Monte’ newsletter going out to everyone once everything is in place.
As always, CCHMSC is running the ‘Heritage Runs’, the regulations for which will be on the webiste in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for these. I hope to make it to Monte Carlo this time in my own car. As you know, I have bought a Triumph Vitesse and another for spares (don’t tell my wife). Jim Wilson of Wilson and Son is currently bringing it up to rally standard and spraying it in the Works colours – powder blue with a white flash.
As I announced in a previous newsletter, I have been given permission by the Automobile Club de Monaco to run a Heritage Tour from Glasgow to Monte Carlo, following on from the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique Glasgow Starters. So far there has been a lot of interest in this proposal with quite a number of people saying that they are definitely going to Monte Carlo in January.
There is now a group of club members working on the finer details of the route, accommodation, ferries, etc. Jim Paterson is acting as entry secretary, Ralph Forbes – a veteran of many Monte Carlo Rallies – is working on a route and Dave Spence with the assistance of Roddie Main will be doing the route book. Ralph has also offered to act as closing car and is bringing a trailer in the unlikely case that anyone breaks down and needs towed to the nearest town. Let’s hope it’s not necessary. Dave and Roddie will be the opening car.
If you are interested in this once in a lifetime chance to drive an authentic Monte Carlo Rally route, then contact Douglas on 01382 731755 or email dglanderson1@yahoo.co.uk
